FAQ

This section of our web site addresses many of the most frequently asked questions that we receive at Marinello Schools of Beauty.

Q. Is Marinello an accredited school?

YES! Marinello Schools are accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts & Sciences (NACCAS). The schools are approved to operate in California by the Bureau of Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education (BPPVE) and the Barber and Cosmetology Board (BBC). The schools are approved to operate in Nevada by the Nevada State Board of Cosmetology (NSBC). The schools are approved by the United States Department of Education (ED) to participate in Title IV Financial Aid programs. In addition, Marinello schools are active members of the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS).

Q. What are the graduation requirements?

To get your Diploma or Certificate, you must complete the Program hours, successfully pass the didactic and practical examinations and complete the required number of practical procedures.

Q. Once I finish the program, will I get my license?

To get your license, you must pass an examination by the state board, and Marinello graduates have a very high passing rate. All throughout the course, we help prepare you for the exam. We'll even give you a "mock board exam" so you'll know what's expected. Foreign students do not qualify for the State License unless they possess a valid Social Security Number.

Q. Tell me about the classes.  What can I expect?

Classes are diversified. You're not going to be stuck in a classroom all day. We have lectures, of course, but we also have live demonstrations, guest speakers, videos and practical application.

Q. When can I start school?

Marinello Schools have an open enrollment policy and programs are offered continuously. Classes start on a bi-weekly or monthly basis. Please consult with your campus "Registrar" regarding specific start dates.

Q. When do I begin to work on "real people"?

After the first phase of training, you'll be working on both patrons and mannequins.

Q. Is there a minimum age to enroll?

Yes, you must be at least 17 years of age to begin training.

Q. Do I need to have a high school diploma?

No, but if you don't have one, you'll need a GED certificate or be able to demonstrate the ability to benefit from the training by passing the ATB (Ability To Benefit) test offered at the schools.

Q. Do you offer financial aid?

Yes! We do have financial aid available for those who qualify, both private and government programs. The government programs are based on need. The financial assistance programs are very flexible and can be tailored to your individual requirements.

Q. Will you help me find a job once I get my license?

Marinello offers Placement Assistance. While we can't guarantee you a job, we will help you find your first position and assist you to reach your career goals.
